The chief rabbi of the Sofia Synagogue is Yoel Ifrah. He graduated in Yeshiva Pachad Yitzchok in Jerusalem and was ordained by Rabbi Yaakov Perez at the Sephardic Beit Midrash in Jerusalem. In 2016 he was elected as the chief Rabbi in Sofia by the Central Israeli Spiritual Council. He takes care about providing kashrut, serves as cantor in the synagogue, directs funeral ceremonies, teaches the Torah, and conducts giyur courses. Rabbi Ifrah is married and has two children.
