From today, April 16, your visit to our Synagogue will be different.

The Central Sofia Synagogue – one of the architectural landmarks of the city and the largest synagogue in the Balkans – now offers its visitors an innovative interactive audio guide that enhances the experience and presents the rich heritage of Bulgarian Jews in a new, modern way.

Through 18 engaging audio stories available in six languages – Bulgarian, English, Hebrew, Spanish, French, and German – guests can learn more about the history, architecture, and spiritual life of the Synagogue. The stories are presented in an accessible and emotionally resonant manner, designed to captivate both local and international visitors.

The system does not require any app download, mobile internet, or additional fees. It is completely intuitive and easy to use – simply scan a QR code on site and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of this sacred and historically significant place.

The project was developed in partnership with the MiGuide platform, which specializes in interactive cultural experiences. The content of the audio guide was curated by Ivanka Gezenko – a longtime expert at the State Archives Agency – whose knowledge and experience contributed to the historical accuracy and quality of the narratives. Thanks to this collaboration, the Sofia Synagogue now stands among the cultural landmarks in Europe that offer modern and accessible content to a wide audience.

This interactive system is part of the ongoing efforts of the Religious Community of the Jews in Bulgaria to make the Sofia Synagogue not only a religious site, but also a culturally significant and emotionally powerful symbol of Jewish heritage in Bulgaria.

We warmly invite you to discover the stories of one of the most remarkable places in Sofia – in a new, modern, and inspiring way.
